Prelim Final: London Pride

Post by Actionman on Wed Aug 27, 2014 2:53 am

Let's hope this is tastier than the ale of the same name.

All I can say is I have 8 starting wingers, Barba, Milford and Gidley and the worlds most unreliable forward pack - so unreliable in fact that I have dropped one of the only players who scored me any points (Butriss) and named Milford there.

You have Maloney playing against Melbourne, your Panthers stars playing manly and your Melbourne outside backs against the Roosters. This isn't a great round for you. If I can get through Thursday night souths game relatively unscathed I will be relying on a try fest on Fri-Mon.

Bring on le Weekend!

Well, this really is sad.

What has become of Actionman, now the estranged father of his beloved creation.

You have wandered so far off course, you've even forgotten your own formula for success.

It involved building a mighty forward pack, a strong playmaker, and letting the Dale Copleys of this world chime in out wide.

Instead, you've assembled the most unreliable team possible, and are hoping that your hit-and-miss backline will strike again. Well, sadly, last week was a hit, and you know what that makes this week.

It doesn't really matter though. What is hilarious here is that I've already won. I've achieved something no man has ever done in the history of this game. I've made it to the dying throws of the season without watching A SINGLE MINUTE of nrl.

I've moneyballed the shit out of you. I've crushed you in regular season, twice, I've comprehensively beaten you on the ladder, and I've been the only team to foot it with the cashed up Red Sox LFBs.

Morally victory? Consider it claimed.

I'll add the real one on Monday, thanks to the league's #1 goal kicker, #3 try scorer, #3 tackler, #2 and #4 try assister, not to mention the finest player in the history of the virtual sport, whom you may recall, Mr Bennett, was in your squad last year.

Add to that a couple of Dragons cast-offs to sweeten the deal, and you can keep the endless list of behavioural disorders that you call a backline, and fuck off back to wherever it is you came from.

Well done - I agree getting this far is already a victory for you, you can comfort yourself with that on Monday when you start Mad Monday...

All good franchises need to adapt - the game this year is about try scoring with the drying up of quality forwards and the 1,2,4 system.

Yeah I wish I had a better kicker (would have been Richards but for Wests bullshit and injuries) but I'll take my backs over your forwards, especially this week.

I got plenty of tries in me, I got nothing from Mansour, Tupou, Gidley and Toovey last week, so according to you there due this week, I'd be more worried about relying on 18 points from Maloney.

Unbelievable fortune for the Dragons, Burgess cut down with an injury when on track to break his own personal tally record. 12 points in the bank, but the DF and PP will go begging.

Well, cancel that.

Burgess comes back out and surely gets the 4PP. His stats for today's game are on an astral plane.

Most of the other Hispters were harmless though.

I know it's been a long time between drinks, and I never thought I would say this, but: GO THE HIPSTERS!

Fucking Sam Burgess, if not for my draft malfunction, he would have been a Karrupta. Probably better for him, really.

How many hipsters does it take to change a lightbulb?

Well I could tell you but the number is actually quite old fashioned and obscure and you've probably never heard of it.

The Hipsters headquarters is actually entirely lit by recycled wax candles in vintage lanterns, with a supplementery glow provided by my sense of entitlement.

YOU IDIOT

Is Adrock trying to claim retrospective ownership rights to Sam Burgess from two years ago?

uh .. yeah

Well Barba only missed out on bettering Burgess by 17 odd points.

Joshy Mac at least stood up for a double dom and former Dragon Cooper kept quiet.

Dragons still in the game.

So, once again I was ready to return when all 5 fucking Broncos tries are scored by zooms (plus one for dugie) effectively knocking out the warriors. Sulk resumed. Again.

I'd have taken 5 goals from Gidley at the start of the game, but given such a big Knights win, no points from Radrara and leaving out Mullen, Not super happy, but good enough.

Raiders game will have a big bearing! C'mon Milford and friends.

unbelievable, but typical Ben. Not one, but two 80th minute tries today.

The Hipsters appear to be toast. Pretty poor effort.

Milford is earning his cash in the back end of the season- 12 points last week, maybe 9 this week.

Hipsters need a solid performance from their Manly and Panthers to keep themselves in the match.

Buhrer, Stewart, DWZ & Moylen v Taufua, Hiku, Lawrence, Mansour and Toovey.

Tariq Sims ans Kyle Feldt will be waiting in the wings on Monday night - hopefully the job will be done before they even suit up.

Good day for the Hipsters with Nathan Friend scoring his once a decade try when it counts.

In fact all of your tries come from forwards and you are calling me lucky?

Dragons will be needing points from their Cowboys anywhere from 6-10 points depending on how the PPs fall. Not how I wanted it to play out, but should make for an interesting finish for the neutrals. Although I'm hearing new boy Kyle Feldt is only 50-50 to play - that will be very important.

Disallowed tries to Taufua and Mansour and injury to Lawrence could be crucial when looking back on this one.

Yes, because ONCE AGAIN you scored in the 80TH MINUTE YOU FUCKING TIN-ARSE (Geoff Toovey this time)

That's three games in the 80th minute, worth 11 points to you.

Astonishing good fortune.

You need to take the bitter with the sweet on this one.

Both Milford and Maloney were statistically negligent and both took the 4PP. In fact, by stats alone you Milford shouldn't have been there at all either, and Papalii just the 1p.

Cracking game, right down to the wire, but the Hipsters are complete, with the Dragons still in the drivers seat. Tariq and Feldt must be good for points tomorrow, and I'd think that 8 between them will be enough.

You're an idiot. There s a difference between a bad game and not winning the stats.

Interesting it comes down to a Storms old boy and the player I sniped you for this week. As you say. Right down to the wire!

And that's the ball game! And the three-peat.

The Dragons 9 much-vaunted wingers managed just 3 tries. Or in other words, fewer than my back row.

The Grand Final will contain two deserving teams (Zooms coulda been there too)

Although, with the Hipsters leaning heavily on the Roosters v Rabbits, this GF may well be decided before the weekend even starts.

also, might I add, what a spectacular performance.

With most of my try-scorers tied down in tight wet-weather games (or still injured), the rest of the team has scrapped for every available point.

And three cheers for the Hipsters unfashionable back row, T-Rex doing lots of running and proving the doubters wrong, Guerra going great when he gets the minutes, even Kyle Turner (?) gave it a nudge!

5 PPs in a preliminary final is fantastic going.
