Round 20: Grand Final Rematch Rematch Rematch... rematch.

Post by Ricky Dartschool on Fri Jul 25, 2014 1:57 pm

Here we go again with the heavyweights of recent years battling it out for the two points, momentum heading into the finals and of course, most importantly, bragging rights.

The Dragons have surged up the ladder after a slow start to the season and are still a chance of not having to play week one of the finals and while the Zoomorphs are lagging a little in fifth place - the fact they have the best attacking and f/a record show they are still a force to be reckoned with and  can destroy any team on their day.

How have these two teams kept themselves near the forefront of the comp?

Well for the Westerosi it's been the same old story. A committed coaching effort with tireless work on the player market has meant the indifferent Dragons squad of 5 months ago has been trimmed of excess baggage while weapons have been added. The latest acquisition, Mitchell Mary & Joseph Moses finished up with a whopping 5 try assists last week and walks straight into the Dragons starting line-up. No doubt the commentators eyes will be on him which is always a leg-up in the PP game.

The Zoomorphs meanwhile have thrown out their own rulebook. In the past a forward dominated team and trying to score consistently has been the order of the day. This year Coach Dartschool decided early on that the forward pickings were a little slim and has looked to rack up tries from 1 through 17. In terms of picking consistent try scorers it's worked. Jarryd Hayne is the only player to score double digit meat pies this year but contributions from all corners including the halves (8 a piece for Johnson and Hunt) and the even the big boys (7 for Gillett, 5 for Vaughan) has helped the Zooms to post some mammoth scores. In term of closing out games it hasn't, with 4 of their 8 losses and a draw against bottom 4 teams meaning they will have to do it tough come finals time.

Should be a cracker this week. Will the attacking prowess of the comps top scoring team from Tirau be enough to overcome the best defensive team hailing from Westeros. This commentator says... Fuck yeah. But then he would I suppose...

Bring it on you inbred fuckers.

Top effort Richo, this is a warm up to the finals, no doubt we'll be playing each other again, but a 4th successive GF re-match almost looks impossible now!

Not a great start to either team, but still plenty of point-scoring possibilities in both teams

Well only Pita Hiku has really stood up, and the Zooms are in control

Dragons really feeling the loss of Taufua, Tupou and Mansour as well as the tries drying up for Semi.

Will need a massive effort from Fensom, Milford and Papalii to win this one with Vaughan, Luke and AJ still to play.

9 category A forward tries coming out of The LFB's this week. That's scary.

Well the gap is down to 7. Fensom could do that by himself. Hoping for a big Rabbitohs win.

Two tries for Johnston nullifies Papaliis running and Fensoms tackles. 20 mins to go...
