Did you hear it here first?

Post by Alcoholics Unanimous on Sun Apr 06, 2014 4:02 pm

Seems a bit of a knee-jerk reaction, but this is not the only place I've read this:

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/nrl/the-warriors-are-set-to-sack-matthew-elliott-as-their-head-coach-in-the-coming-days/story-fni3gs8l-1226876109712

We now cross to our man in the field Sackerman for all the inside gossip...

I just read this as well! Apparently some bum from super league is set to replace him?

The Warriors are in disarray. I'd be Locke over Sammy T right now. I hope the new coach swings the axe!

Seems stupid to sack him so early in the season if there isn't an obviously better candidate to replace him

Whoever replaces him better keep giving my man Lillyman big minutes

I like the idea of this

http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/league/9915813/Tim-Sheens-put-forward-for-Warriors-job

Please tell me we arent considering Nathan Brown with his win rate of 51%

It is worrying sign when the top of the table man with a business and accounting post graduate degree thinks that 80/151 is a 51% win rate.

Brown would be ideal - maybe he could slap some sense into SJ...

And yeah I know about Locke - my point is if he was available I don't know whether I could justify playing Tompkins - he's almost as crap as Barba!

So what you're tim of the numbers world now? Brown would be terrible, wane the guy whose only experience in the nrl was gettig thrashed by rookie nrl coach Trent Robinson would be worse.

The warriors have only had one coach with a greater than 50% win record and that was Daniel Anderson.

I don't actually want Nathan Brown, but I'm not sure Sheens is the answer either - he should have been chosen 18months ago but I think that ship might have sailed.

How about Big Mal? I hear he's going to jump ship after 10 in a row. Obviously you'd need to also have an actual coach to help him actually coach the players...

How do you mean the Sheens ship mught have sailed? His management have said in no uncertain terms he is interested in the job, and surely Watson and Glen's egos would be keen to nab the Australian national coach.

It's actually interesting looking back at Anderson's record. He wasn't half bad and we have him the bullet.

Big mal won't leave qld he is a rock star up there. Surely you can't look past the current Australian coach.

On a side note can we please give Mateo, Nielsen, and Manu the bullet and release Matulino who wants to go to NSw for some strange reason and sign fifita plus center who can tackle?

Sheens is too old - they could have signed him 18 months ago and didn't - just my view but if they said no last time - I can't.see them saying yes this time.

Sheens isn't well known for great man management - which it sounds like is key to success at Warriors.

What about Trent Barrett - he's highly rated in the NSW system (I know - how hard can that be?). Should be good for Johnson too.

Owen Glenn not happy. There is going to be a big management shakeup me thinks so we might see some big eventual changes in the player line up too - Owen Glenn is not a man that fucks about. It's all a bit English Premier League it happening so early in the season. The board needed to take responsibility for hiring him and give him time, i don't think McFadden is going to create a miraculous turnaround.

Right, a few things.

Y'all are fucking turkeys for not going to Firstline, 3News, 3news.co.nz and the League Fix facebook or twitter for the latest on this.

Glenn still wants to buy Watson out, but there's no way Watson's ego will allow him control. Watson took advantage of Glenn's legal situation with the Trust that owns his half of the club, but this whole blow up comes from crap communication from OG's representative on the board. Had that been clear, Glenn wouldn't have taken it public. It's true the board knew and supported the call but it's also true glenn wasn't aware what was going on.

We know by now that Sheens, Kearney, Wane and Brown have all ruled themselves out, but the board desperately wants McFadden to be long term. He's a good coach, tough with the players and respected at the same time. If he doesn't make the playoffs he's in trouble though.

Scurrah will be lucky to be there in 2015, but they won't sack him til the end of the year. He's a good fella, but the decision to hire and fire coaches is made by the board in conjunction with Dean Bell, who avoids a ton of this criticism. He was key in the appointment of Elliott.

Was always a requirement to have a winning record after 6 games this season, so they pulled the trigger early. I feel for Elliott, he deserves better, but so did Bluey and Iro. I'd rather they pull the trigger than just make idol threats.

Looked pretty intense at training the last few weeks...

That's a pretty good signing - lets hope we didn't pay overs like Sippster on Benry.

Probably a couple of years too late - he might be struggling in 2 or 3 years time.

Where's our 5/8 at?

Continuing the Warriors' proud tradition of offsetting cheap 140kg monster 18-year-old Samoan kids with overpriced long-in-the-tooth Aussie backrowers.

Congrats Sip on replacing the comp's most overpriced player with the comp's second-most overpriced player.

It's not earning interest. What am I going to spend it on the next big thing that is uncovered in round 9?

And Blake Austin will never play a role

I think dropping Fulton will be your he ain't no Wayne Bennett moment - least you could have done was trade him for a useful centre rather than paying almost as much for Ben Henry.

But yeah I have to admit I got scared off by Tim's $1M in the bank and I didn't want to lose out on him.
